The Higher Institute of Fine Arts of Tunis (ISBAT) is a Tunisian fine arts school. It has contributed to the development of the Tunisian artistic movement and the dissemination of the visual arts . Nowadays, the institute is located on the road of the National Army in the district of El Omrane in Tunis . The institute was founded in 1923 at Dribat Ben Abdallah, near Tourbet El Bey , under the name of “Center d’enseignement d’art”. In 1930 , the center took the name of “School of Fine Arts of Tunis”. In 1949 , several former students of the School of Fine Arts of Tunis, created the artistic current of the School of Tunis . His first director is Pierre Boyer who is successively replaced by Jean Antoine Armand Vergeaud , Pierre Berjole and Safia Farhat . In 2008 , the Institute participates in the 50 th anniversary of the creation of the Tunisian university. It also organizes student exhibitions: the theme of 2010 is weaving , the works being exhibited at the Belvedere Arts House. This exhibition of plastic art testifies to the tradition of partnership between the university and the industrial world.
