The Leather Institute of Zimbabwe (LIZ) is a non-profit making organization that was established in 1985 by the leather sector and Government of Zimbabwe with the assistance of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) . It’s Primary objective is to promoting the value addition leather in Zimbabwe . Technically the institute was empowered to to monitor and and improve the quality of the raw materials for the industries by address the needs of the industry with regard to Provision of training, standards and production related problems , laboratory services that included both physical and chemical testing of products and certification mainly of semi finished and finished leather and collaborating with both private , and public institution for purpose of keeping industry abreast of technological developments .
