NCKU, established in 1931, is located in Tainan, a city known for cultural heritage and cutting-edge technology. Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan. It has the greatest number and density of historical sites, which are not only the treasure of the “Capital City”, but also invaluable cultural assets to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). There is a Sicao Wetlands near the campus, which is one of the best ecological parks in Asia. Various technology companies in Tainan Science Park set up the stage for NCKU graduates to put what they have learned in school into practice. The geological location of NCKU, Southern Taiwan Science Park and Industrial Technology Research Institute-Southern Region Campus, to some extent reiterates the connection of Berkeley University, Stanford University and Silicon Valley.
