Celin Rose

Footwear Design and Development Institute

Hi, I’m Celin Rose, a designer exploring the intersection of accessories, lifestyle products, and the deeper stories they can tell. I think of design as a quiet language — a way of expressing things that words sometimes can’t. It’s how I make sense of the world around me, and how I try to shape small experiences that feel thoughtful and lasting. A lot of what I create is shaped by stories — of materials, of places. I’m especially drawn to natural textures, found or leftover materials, and techniques that carry a sense of time. There’s something meaningful in working with what already exists and shaping it into something new. I try to stay open and curious — observing, collecting, connecting. For me, it’s less about making something perfect and more about making something that feels real, that feels like it belongs.

Astitva — a story stitched in strength, memory, and quiet modernity. Astitva — meaning existence — is a reflection on identity and continuity, shaped through material, memory, and quiet transformation. This concept began as a way of exploring how heritage can evolve without being left behind. Drawing from the drape and detail of the Indian saree, the garment blends traditional symbolism with contemporary form, using leather as its canvas — not for ornament, but for expression.  Inspired by the grace of the Indian saree, the piece reimagines traditional Indian motifs through a more sculpted, modern lens. Discarded edges of leather hides — often overlooked — are brought into focus through delicate laser-cut patterns, echoing the intricacy of temple architecture and textile borders. These elements find a new rhythm across the surface of the jacket, offering texture, story, and quiet strength. Astitva leans into the idea that design can quietly hold space for where we come from, while making room for where we’re going. It isn’t loud or elaborate — just considered. A gentle exploration of strength, sensitivity, and the quiet ways identity can take shape.
