Fashion Design MFA

Womenswear, Apparel, Atelier - Pattern Cutting

Peicen Jiang, a Chinese-born artist based in Chicago, channels her exploration of societal pressures onto the canvas of the female form. Jiang's art serves as a visceral commentary, conveying the impact of societal expectations through distorted representations. Spanning installations, sculptures, and garments, Jiang's versatile practice delves into the interplay between beauty and brutality. Employing textile manipulation techniques on historical garments, she crafts exaggerated silhouettes with visceral textures, blurring the boundaries of fashion and sculpture. Jiang's evocative creations spark introspection and dialogue, compelling viewers to confront uncomfortable truths surrounding gendered violence and societal norms.
