LAB university of Applied Sciences

I’m currently a junior studying fashion design at Tainan University of Technology, focusing on material exploration and emotional expression in my work. I often draw inspiration from natural phenomena, translating ideas like decay, transformation, and regeneration into my design language. In my creative process, I pay close attention to texture and the sense of time within materials. Through techniques such as dyeing, distressing, and structural manipulation of leather, I explore the tension between protection and breakdown. For me, garments are not just about form, but also a medium to carry emotions and tell stories. Through my designs, I hope to explore the relationship between materials and states of being, creating pieces that go beyond visual aesthetics and convey deeper feelings and meaning.

"DECAY ARMOR"

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Taiwan Region

Design Concept — “Decay Armor” This design explores the poetic tension between protection and deterioration. Inspired by the natural cycle of growth, decay, and regeneration, the garment transforms the concept of “withering” into a form of wearable armor. The upper silhouette is constructed with structured leather, resembling a protective shell that preserves the last trace of vitality. Through techniques such as hand-dyeing, distressing, and textural manipulation, the leather surface mimics organic decay—cracked, uneven, and time-worn. In contrast, the lower part of the garment expresses decomposition and transformation. Layered and irregular leather panels evoke the spreading of spores and the erosion of structure, symbolizing the breakdown of form and the emergence of new life. The design emphasizes material authenticity and craftsmanship, using leather not only as a medium of durability, but also as a narrative surface that records time, memory, and change. “Decay Armor” is not merely about destruction, but about the quiet persistence of life within decline.
