I am currently a fourth year Fashion Design and Marketing student at Northumbria University graduating in July 2024. Due to my course, I have a great understanding of both the creative and business aspects of the fashion industry. I recently won the British Fashion Council X British Library annual fashion design competition in January and my portfolio was chosen out all the final year fashion applicants in the United Kingdom. I am not only skilled in designing and constructing garments, but I also have a great knowledge in creating and marketing fashion campaigns. I am hoping to embark on a master’s programme that not only inspires my work but also helps me to learn more skills to build my future career.

Real Leather Stay Different X Dede

Real Leather Stay Different X Dede looks at how Nigeria can make better use of its cow hide for both sustainable fashion and economic growth. The accessories collection comprises of mainly bags and two belts that are made from pure cow hide fabric. All other materials used in the designs are upcycled from other products commonly found in the streets of Nigera, such as straw bags, wooden chips and traditional beads. Cow hide is the main focus because of it needing minimal manufacturing making it easier to produce in small farming villages across Nigeria that do not have access to expensive machinery. The collection is a celebration of leather in its most natural form and a look into the future of sustainable fashion in Africa.
