Pink Thread

Category: Apparel

Competitions: International, Africa

Pink Thread is a bold two-piece leather ensemble consisting of a structured jacket & bootleg pants, crafted entirely through upcycling or should I say highly influenced by the upcycle culture. This piece challenges conventional perceptions of leather by transforming pre-existing fabrics into a contemporary, expressive silhouette. The set is rendered in a striking pink hue symbolizing softness, rebellion & modern femininity while subverting the traditionally rugged & masculine association of leather. The jacket features ur traditional denim jacket structure with an upcycle twist of the front & back, emphasizing sharp lines & confident form, while the bootleg pants introduce fluidity & movement, creating a balanced dailogue between strength & ease. The garment embraces sustainability not only as a method but as a narrative. Each panel of leather carries a past life, reimagined into a cohesive design that speaks to renewal & individuality & conscious craftsmanship. The visible reconstruction elements highlight the beauty of imperfection & the designer's hand, reinforcing the idea that luxury can be both responsible & innovative. This piece reflects commitment to redefining leather in a modern context where heritage meets experimentation, & where fashion becomes a platform for storytelling, transformation & identity.

Our goal is to extend the lifespan of discarded clothing and fabric by transforming them into new, high-value products, promoting sustainability & reducing waste. We're looking into the issue of textile waste which we've grown learn is the major problem in the Fashion industry, by preventing valuable materials from ending up in landfills. It allows for unique, one of a kind pieces, offering consumers a chance to express their individuality & embrace a more conscious approach to fashion. We reducing the demand for new raw materials & energy for traditional manufacturing processes, minimizing the enviromental impact of fashion. This project promotes a circular economy model Where resources are reused & repurposed rather than being discarded, contributing to a more sustainable & closed-loop system. It can offer both consumers & businesses the ability to reduce costs by reusing fabric & minimizing waste.
