Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology

As a student majoring in footwear design at the School of Fashion Art and Engineering of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, I have always insisted on using design as a way to express myself and observe the world since I entered school. During the learning process, I systematically mastered professional knowledge such as footwear structure, material technology, and ergonomics, and continued to deepen my understanding of the design process through practical courses. From sketching, last design, to pattern making and material selection, I focus on integrating emotional experience with functionality and exploring diverse design languages. My design style focuses on narrative and emotional expression. I am good at drawing inspiration from real life, personal experience and cultural symbols to create recognizable footwear works. During my time at school, I participated in many course projects and theme design competitions, and some of my works were selected for exhibitions. In addition, I also continue to pay attention to the application of sustainable design and emerging scientific and technological materials in footwear, and am committed to combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics to create footwear works that are both practical and thoughtful. In the future, I hope to further systematize my personal design concept, continue to explore the interactive relationship between footwear design and social culture, and inject more possibilities into the industry.

来看你THE VISIT

Category: Footwear

Competitions: China Mainland

"THE VISIT" is inspired by "Hiraeth" - a deep but helpless nostalgia for lost things. The design attempts to explore: when the past cannot be traced back and emotions cannot be soothed, how can we use shoes, a medium that carries the body, to express this uncontrolled retrospection. The work uses leather scraps as the main material, and uses washed yellow-gray and heavy gray treatments to simulate the erosion of time and the weathering of emotions, while ensuring that these different types of leather materials have a unified color. The upper is reorganized in the shape of withered petals, and red stitching runs through the entire shoe, like an old wound that has been repeatedly mended but cannot healed. In terms of structure, the conventional heel is replaced with a crutch-like support component, and the sole is split and misplaced, symbolizing the state of "moving forward in incompleteness". "THE VISIT" is not only about personal emotions, but also a metaphor for the relationship between humans and nature: we always realize the preciousness after losing it. The work presents a gentle and firm sustainable attitude through zero-waste cutting, modular structure, material recycling and explicit stitching - both stitching memories and extending the life of materials. I regard "THE VISIT" as a look back at a period of time, and also a commemoration and response to "irreversible loss".
