Sydney TAFE
Noah Vey is an independent designer based in Sydney, Australia. I am a third-year student from Sydney TAFE Institute, Ultimo. His experience in creating and designing garments began in high school year 11. He started by designing merch with a random graphic print, also known as textile printing. I made a couple of items of clothing, such as t-shirts, pants, and a bucket hat, along with some hand embroidery. Then, picked interest in re-purposing, upcycling garments in his free time, and he continued to be involved in personal projects, work and studies. My journey in fashion has been a roller coaster. I have developed my signature style, silhouettes and textures that people can recognise in my design. Noah's practice takes inspiration from everything that inspired him, including people on the street, books, and mostly film. As I am working on my graduation collection, I decided to create a story-narrative that each garment of the look will be reflecting through characteristics, personalities that I wrote for them. Some key highlights of my work are natural dyes, upcycling, patchwork and screen-printing.
