Gabriele Cattaneo
Polytechnic University of Milan
I am a Fashion Design student with a strong specialization in leather goods and jewelry design. My work is driven by a passion for craftsmanship, material research, and the intersection between traditional techniques and contemporary aesthetics. Through my studies, I have developed a deep understanding of design processes, from initial concept development and trend analysis to prototyping and final product realization. My primary focus is on leather accessories and jewelry, two fields that allow me to explore both functionality and artistic expression. I am particularly interested in how materials can communicate identity, emotion, and cultural narratives. Working with leather has taught me the importance of precision, construction, and attention to detail, while jewelry design has strengthened my ability to create refined objects that balance innovation and wearability. Throughout my academic journey, I have gained experience in sketching, technical drawing, digital design tools, material selection, and product development. I enjoy experimenting with shapes, textures, and unconventional combinations of materials to create pieces that are distinctive and meaningful. Sustainability and responsible design are also important aspects of my creative approach, influencing the way I think about production methods and material sourcing. I am constantly inspired by art, architecture, contemporary culture, and the evolving landscape of fashion. These influences help me develop projects that combine strong visual identities with practical functionality. My goal is to contribute to the luxury and contemporary accessories industry by creating innovative leather goods and jewelry that reflect both craftsmanship and modern design values. Through dedication, curiosity, and continuous learning, I aim to develop a unique design language that can make a meaningful impact within the fashion industry.
