INDUSTRIAL UNIVERSITY of HO CHI MINH city

I express myself through fashion in a world full of the unimaginable. There is a version of me that is gentle and serene, finding peace in the simplicity of everyday life. And there is another—edgy, passionate, and driven—fully immersed in the intensity of fashion. Through fashion, I become a shape-shifter of identities, moving freely through different spaces and experiences, embracing each version of myself. It allows me to exist as a multifaceted individual, exploring and expressing the many layers of who I am as I journey through the world.

“Sedge Scent” – The gentle, lingering scent of sedge evokes the quiet countryside, present in every midday nap and humble family meal. It is a fragrance deeply woven into the childhood memories of Vietnamese people. The sedge mat carries within it fragments of youth — an essential object in every Vietnamese household since ancient times. Though not luxurious, it embodies a form of cultural artistry and craftsmanship, requiring meticulous skill shaped by the weathered hands of artisans over time. The “Sedge Scent” collection draws inspiration from the traditional handwoven mat-making craft of Cam Ne village, serving as a tribute to the artisans while celebrating and preserving the cultural and artistic values of this heritage craft. Crafted from raw cowhide leather, the collection not only reflects cultural authenticity through its rugged texture but also embraces a contemporary spirit, bridging tradition with modernity. The elongated shape of the bag is inspired by the familiar rolled mats found in the daily lives of Vietnamese people. These mats are often rolled up when carried for sale, and after family meals or moments of gathering and reunion. The surface of the bag is crafted using a flowing weaving technique, inspired by sedge fields before harvest. Accentuating the surface is the familiar pattern of the traditional red mat. The flap of the bag is designed in multiple layers, each carrying symbolic meaning tied to the mat. The first layer presents the basic image of a mat along with the traditional weaving techniques used to create it. The second layer represents the harvest season and the dyeing process of sedge before it is put into production. Artisans typically tie one end of the sedge bundle while spreading the other end out in a fan-like shape to help it dry more quickly. Filled with nostalgic memories of childhood and moments of complete family togetherness, the mat is not only an everyday household item but also a vessel of simple memories, cultural values, and the dedication and hard work of skilled artisans.
