London College of Fashion

My name is Kechen Yu. I graduated with a BA in Fashion Design from Donghua University in a joint program with the University of Edinburgh. I’m currently studying MA Menswear at London College of Fashion. My practice centers around garment cutting and structural experimentation. I’m especially interested in how form and construction can express emotion, narrative, and bodily presence. In my current project Butcher, I explore the relationship between the human body and clothing through the lens of butchery—treating garments as second skins that can be sliced, draped, or hung like flesh. This project also deepened my interest in working with leather, a material that embodies both strength and vulnerability, allowing me to create tension between precision tailoring and raw, organic forms. I see clothing as a space where function and provocation meet. Through silhouette, texture, and construction, I aim to challenge traditional notions of menswear and create garments that speak to something physical and intimate.
