Quanzhou Vocational College of Light Industry

My name is Zou Hongwei, from Xiamen, Fujian, China. This coastal city full of artistic atmosphere and fashion vitality has nurtured my unique perception and pursuit of beauty. Currently, I am a sophomore majoring in Fashion Design at Quanzhou Light Industry Vocational College. Since stepping into the field of fashion design, I have been deeply immersed in it. This strong interest has long been integrated into my daily life. In my spare time, I often indulge in the creative world of fashion design—from sketching design drafts when inspiration strikes, to carefully selecting fabrics, and focusing on three-dimensional garment draping. Every step brings me great joy, as I aspire to transform the creativity in my mind into reality stitch by stitch and cut by cut. To enhance my professional capabilities, I actively participate in various fashion design competitions, growing continuously through competition and communication. Last month, I was honored to win the Second Prize in the Fujian Division of the Milan China University Design Week. This award not only affirms my efforts but also motivates me to keep moving forward on my fashion design journey. Beyond fashion design, my life is equally colorful. I love photography, using the lens to freeze beautiful moments and record the bits and pieces of life; I am also obsessed with painting, depicting my inner world and expressing emotions through brushes. Meanwhile, I am passionate about various sports—whether sweating on the court or challenging myself on the track. Sports not only keep me physically fit but also endow me with the courage and perseverance to face difficulties. These diverse hobbies interweave, enriching my aesthetic accumulation and providing a constant stream of inspiration for fashion design. In the future, I will carry my love for fashion design, deepen my expertise in the field, and interpret my understanding of fashion and beauty through my works.

《竹编遗韵·革履新尚》(The Heritage Rhyme of Bamboo Weaving · New Fashion of Leather)

Category: Apparel

Competitions: China Mainland

This collection draws inspiration from China’s intangible cultural heritage—Anxi bamboo and rattan weaving, a millennium-old craft renowned for its intricate patterns and deep connection to tea culture. Adhering to the core principle of maximizing industrial waste valorization, the designer transforms discarded leather offcuts into strips. Through deconstructive re-engineering of traditional weaving logic, this process yields an innovative secondary-structure textile exhibiting parametric bamboo-inspired textures. The modular architecture empowers users to disassemble and reconfigure woven components, enabling sustainable garment evolution through participatory redesign.Circularity permeates every phase:Tea-waste-dyed upcycled cotton/linen develops time-based patina,Bio-fabricated substrates replicate rattan's organic haptics,Voluminous silhouettes echo mountain skylines, while an earthen chromology mirrors tea-terraced horizons. This synthesis culminates in a kinetic aesthetic where Eastern Zen minimalism converges with avant-garde fashion articulation.
