My name is Juhyeon Yeo, and I am the designer and creative director of the upcoming leather bag brand, EACH DOOR, set to launch in late June 2025. I hold a degree in Fashion Bags and Accessories from the London College of Fashion, where I was awarded the Curriers Cup of Excellence in Leather End of Year Award in 2024 for my conceptual and material-driven approach to leather craftsmanship.
EACH DOOR’s debut collection, titled “Press Play,” explores themes of beginning and emotional connection through the motif of a button. As a designer, I view leather not simply as a material but as a vessel that carries time, emotion, and individual memory. I believe that the long-term use of high-quality leather is one of the most genuine forms of sustainability—a philosophy that prioritizes emotional durability and the quiet value of aging gracefully with time.
In recent work, I had the opportunity to collaborate with photographer and videographer Andrew Barber, who documented my process and interviewed me on my design perspective. In that conversation, I shared:
"The charm of leather lies in its naturalness and the unique patterns that develop over time. Leather might start off hard and smooth, but it gradually softens with use, creating a personal pattern that tells a story. This evolution is a quality you can't find in other materials, and it gives leather products a deeper charm as they age. When I design with leather, I aim to create products that harmonize with this natural transformation, allowing people to use them with affection for a long time."
Additionally, several of my pieces were recently worn by singer Sinead Harnett in a feature with Principle Magazine, offering a moment where design, narrative, and music intersected in a meaningful way.
I see the Real Leather. Stay Different. competition as an opportunity to further explore the emotional and material value of leather within a contemporary context. Aligning with my commitment to thoughtful, lasting design, participating in this competition alongside the launch of my brand would be a symbolic milestone in my creative journey.
