NDOTO Dreams Transformed into Form NDOTO is a comfortable leather bag inspired by African identity, contemporary craftsmanship, and sustainable design. Designed to function as both a sling bag and a clutch handbag, the bag promotes multifunctionality and longer product use, encouraging more conscious consumption through one adaptable product. The design draws inspiration from the African continent and incorporates brass details influenced by various Kenyan cultural forms, translating traditional identity into modern craftsmanship and storytelling. Sustainability is at the core of the project through minimal use of glue, simplified pattern construction, reduced leather waste, and the use of recycled brass hardware sourced from scrap materials. The construction method focuses on folded leather techniques, structural brass connections, and selective stitching to create a durable and repairable product while reducing unnecessary material and chemical use. Ndoto also explores economic sustainability by creating a timeless multifunctional bag that reduces the need for multiple products, extends product lifespan, and supports efficient material usage during production. By combining functionality, durability, and cultural value, the project represents a modern approach to sustainable African luxury design.
