JHIH-YU LIN

Shih Chien University

I am a fashion design student with a strong passion for material exploration, sustainability, and storytelling through design. My work is often inspired by urban environments, street culture, and the subtle emotions found in everyday life. I enjoy transforming discarded or leftover materials into new forms, giving them a second life while reducing waste.

Soft Becoming

Category: Accessories

Competitions: Taiwan Region

This piece is inspired by the feeling of being embraced. I observed that during a hug, our hands naturally rest on the shoulders and waist, which became the key focus areas of this design. By bringing the bag closer to the body, I aim to create a sense of comfort, intimacy, and emotional support. The structure features adjustable elements that allow the bag to change its shape, creating soft folds and a more organic form. This transformation not only enhances functionality but also reflects a relaxed and fluid state, echoing the concept of slowing down in a fast-paced urban environment. In terms of material and aesthetics, I incorporate a soft color palette and subtle contrasts to emphasize calmness and balance. Through this design, I hope to present a piece that is not only practical, but also emotionally engaging—like a quiet, wearable form of reassurance.
