VÕ ĐĂNG KHOA (LOU)

ĐẠI HỌC CÔNG NGHỆ KỸ THUẬT THÀNH PHỐ HỒ CHÍ MINH

My name is Vo Dang Khoa(LOU), a third-year student majoring in Fashion Design at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering a young designer who is deeply fascinated by the way materials and culture can tell timeless stories. To me, fashion is not merely about appearance; it is a language — a space where the past and the present can meet, collide, and be reborn into new values. I am particularly interested in exploring traditional elements in design, not to replicate them, but to transform them. Craftsmanship, traditional motifs, and the spirit of local culture, when reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, are no longer “static heritage” but become a living source of inspiration. For me, tradition is the material, and creativity is how I give it a new life.

This project originates from a desire to engage in a dialogue with Vietnamese royal art heritage through a contemporary design language. Inspired by Pháp lam Huế and decorative systems from the Triều Nguyễn, the design goes beyond borrowing motifs and instead explores the spirit of imperial craftsmanship: symmetry, disciplined composition, symbolic richness, and extreme refinement A convergence of two materials that 'defy time.' While natural leather gains a beautiful patina and character with age, Hue Pháp Lam (Royal Enamel) is renowned for its resilience, withstanding harsh elements for centuries."
