Sudeepa Das

Footwear Design and Development Institute

Hello, my name is Sudeepa Das. I'm a third-year student at FDDI Hyderabad, India, studying Leather Lifestyle and Product Design. My approach to design is bold and experimental—I enjoy constantly exploring new ideas, materials, and ways of creating. I don’t like to limit myself to one particular medium; instead, I love to challenge form and function and see where that takes me. Over the past few years, I’ve been drawn to questions about how we interact with the world around us—especially how fashion, design, and consumer choices affect our environment. I enjoy working with both traditional and modern materials and techniques, often combining them to create something unexpected. Whether it’s playing with the design, transforming ordinary details, or reinventing patterns—I like to push boundaries and rethink what’s possible. Recently, I interned at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. in the bag division, where I got the chance to understand the full cycle of design, merchandising, and production. This hands-on experience gave me insight into the real workings of the industry and helped me grow as a designer. I believe in putting emotion and concept into every product I create—making sure it tells a story, carries meaning, and connects with the user beyond just aesthetics.

TRAP

Competitions: International

TRAP is not just a clock — it's a reflection of how we live. Imagine the clock hands as us — humans — constantly moving, constantly working, trying to survive and succeed. But behind that movement lies something deeper: an illusion. The spiral pattern in the background, made using two contrasting leather tones, represents the life we think we’re building — structured, forward-moving — but in reality, we’re often just spinning in the same loop. The more time passes, the deeper we get pulled in. The spiral draws us in visually, just as time pulls us in emotionally — into routines, roles, and responsibilities that never seem to end. We think we’re in control, but time quietly takes over. TRAP is a reminder: every time you look at the clock, ask yourself — are you really living, or just spinning?
