Blue Feather Swing
Category: Design*
Competitions: Taiwan Region
This piece is inspired by the Taiwan Blue Magpie (Urocissa caerulea), a species endemic to Taiwan. It translates the bird’s elegant and powerful flight posture into a dynamic visual language within the design. The swinging motion mirrors the curved trajectory formed by the magpie’s gliding wings, turning the image of flight into a bodily experience. Leather is used as the primary material. Through layered construction, the piece conveys the rhythm and flow of feathers in motion. As the swing moves, the interplay of form and movement evokes the sensation of the magpie in flight, inviting the viewer to participate in the act of flying through physical interaction.
