This mortal coil- Phooka

Category: Apparel

Competitions:

This character is the Phooka a mischievous creature Able to transform into a human or other creatures. My final collection is about the relationship i have with my Irish roman catholic heritage and the dissociative relationship i have with it, looking at Victorian mourning and how death traditions of these two overlap, alongside story’s my father told me as a child. that have grown into these 6 characters, each character is unique and is subjective. the relationship between hair and mourning is prominent and the fascination i have had with hair for year, macabre is at the root of my work. This look is made from completely recycled leather, it has 3 zips which can be used to completely deconstruct. I was inspired by 18th century men’s tunics along side a contemporary and clean colour pallet and texture.
