YU-LING XIE

Taiwan Region

Hello everyone, I am currently studying in the Department of Fashion Design at Tainan University of Technology. I am a focused and responsible person—once I set a goal, I devote myself fully and do not give up easily. To me, fashion is not just about outward appearance; it is also a way to express myself and convey ideas. Throughout my studies, I have continuously developed my design skills and aesthetic sense. From concept development and pattern making to the completion of each piece, I dedicate myself wholeheartedly to every step. I also enjoy challenging myself and pushing beyond my limits during the process. I find great satisfaction in transforming abstract ideas into tangible creations. In the future, I hope to continue improving in the field of fashion design, develop my own unique style, and use my work to communicate more ideas and values. Participating in this competition is not just about competing for me, but also an opportunity to learn and grow. I hope to showcase my passion and abilities through this experience.

Azure Spiral Shell

Category: Accessories

Competitions: Taiwan Region

This work centers on a blue spiral shell, using its inward-coiling structure to evoke the accumulation of time and memory. The outer surface is rendered in deep blue with a textured, hand-colored quality, symbolizing the protective layer of the external world. Inside, lighter shades of blue are divided into orderly segments, resembling thoughts that have been organized and categorized, gradually moving toward the core as they spiral inward. The black outlines not only define the form but also resemble marks left by time, adding rhythm and structure to the composition. The blank background highlights the stillness and solitude of the subject, as if a silent inner dialogue is taking place. The spiral form suggests growth and cycles—both a return and a progression. As viewers gaze upon the shell, they may find reflections of their own inner state, discovering a personal sense of rhythm and balance within the calm expanse of blue.
