Shih Chien University

I am a student in the Department of Fashion Business at Shih Chien University. With an introverted personality, I enjoy exploring outdoor environments on my own, observing subtle interactions between people, surroundings, and objects. These experiences have become a vital source of inspiration, allowing me to develop a sensitive awareness of details and emotions often overlooked in everyday life. In my design practice, I focus on transforming cultural elements into contemporary design language, while integrating functionality with fashion aesthetics. My work aims to balance storytelling with wearability, using structure, materials, and detailing to go beyond visual expression and respond to real-life use. Through design, I seek to translate abstract cultural meanings and emotions into forms that can be worn and experienced, creating a deeper connection between people and objects, and allowing these meanings to continue evolving in everyday life.

The design inspiration for this project comes from something very everyday: the "amulet" that many people in Taiwan carry with them. But I found a problem: amulets usually age and break over time and are eventually discarded, which is a bit of a pity. So I was thinking, is it possible to turn this "disposable item" into something that can be used for a long time, or even something that can be with you every day? Regarding sustainability, I have three main ideas: First is "extending its lifespan" → Once it's made of leather, it won't be as easily discarded as traditional amulets. Second is "emotional connection" → Because it inherently carries auspicious meaning, and becomes a personal accessory, users will cherish it more. Third is "cultural continuity" → Transforming Taiwanese amulets into modern designs, allowing them to continue existing in contemporary life Therefore, this work is not merely about making a bag, but about transforming "blessings" into an object that can accompany you for a long time. It also transcends the realm of materials, extending to "how it's used" and the "emotional level." "Carrying it by hand symbolizes 'grasping the blessing,' while wearing it crossbody symbolizes 'coexisting with the body.'" "It transforms the blessing from a static object into a companion in motion."
