Addie Tripp
Silpakorn University
Hi! My name is Addie Tripp, and I am an Apparel Design and BFA Costume Design major at Auburn University, where hands-on training and studio work shape how I approach fashion. My coursework has given me solid skills in patternmaking, construction, textile science, and historical costume study, and I’ve taken every opportunity to apply that knowledge—collaborating on theater productions, working in textile labs, and entering competitions and internships to push my craft. My style leans a bit edgy and narrative-driven. I like mixing tailored shapes with unexpected materials and adding theatrical details that make garments feel like small performances. I’m drawn to contrast and risk-taking, but I’m practical about it—strong construction, clear intent, and real wearability are non-negotiable. I enjoy projects that let me test technical limits while keeping functionality front and center. Sustainability matters to me. I don’t see it as a trend but as a responsibility: choosing materials thoughtfully, reducing waste through smarter patterning and upcycling, and designing for repairability and longevity. I’m actively learning better sourcing practices and pushing for transparency in supply chains. When it comes to leather, I approach it with nuance—interested in responsible sourcing, minimizing waste, and honoring the material’s qualities while keeping environmental impact in mind and applying to the International Real Leather. Stay Different. Student Design Competition 2026 feels like a natural step. I bring a foundation in educated craftsmanship, a willingness to experiment, and a commitment to thoughtful design. I want to create pieces that start conversations—work that’s bold but considered, expressive but durable and to keep growing through critique, collaboration, and real-world challenges.
