I'm Khánh Như – a third-year Industrial Design student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture. I see design as a way of storytelling – not with words, but through the lines and forms of a product. Since I was a kid, I loved taking things apart at home; as I grew up, that curiosity turned into a passion for drawing and "unusual" ideas. To me, design is not just about creating something beautiful – it's about solving problems that haven't been asked yet, and turning thoughts into real-world experiences. I'm especially interested in sustainable design and exploring new materials. Each project feels like an adventure – where I learn to listen to users, explore functionality, and create designs that are both soulful and sensible. I love the creative process: from the first sketch to the final form – every stage carries traces of thought, emotion, and trial and error. I'm still learning, still experimenting, and always trying to reinvent myself through every design.

In the post-Covid era, the way people perceive clothing has shifted significantly. The boundary between workwear and casual wear is gradually fading as a more flexible and practical lifestyle takes shape. Instead of maintaining two separate wardrobes, people are simplifying their choices — saving money, reducing waste, and maximizing the value of each item. A single piece of clothing is no longer confined to one context, but can be styled in multiple ways: structured when needed, relaxed when desired. This shift is not just an aesthetic trend, but a reflection of a new mindset — where versatility and adaptability become essential. When one item can move across different states, it not only becomes more efficient, but also gives the wearer greater control over how they present themselves. This raises a question: what if it’s not just about styling, but the object itself carries multiple states? What if a bag could remain minimal and functional, yet expand into something more expressive and unconventional when needed? Instead of choosing between two styles, it becomes about the ability to transform within a single identity.

Mạch Gấm Da Nâu_ Brocade & Hide

During a trip to Cao Nguyen, VietNam, I was captivated by the image of ethnic women in vibrant brocade garments, their hands swiftly weaving fabric. Each thread, dyed colorful color, seemed to carry the very breath of the mountains and forests. "Brocade & Hide" was born from that inspiration — a fusion of rustic, strong brown cowhide and handcrafted brocade patterns rich in highland identity. If the corset was once associated with restriction and conformity, “Mạch Gấm Da Nâu” is a version that breaks free from all stereotypes. It is no longer just a tool for shaping the body, but an accessory that expresses strength, freedom, and individuality.

"Brocade & Hide" was born from that inspiration — a fusion of rustic, strong brown cowhide and handcrafted brocade patterns rich in highland identity. The corset, blending leather and brocade, serves as a highlight — like a “piece of armor” that accentuates the figure, yet softened by the soul of tradition. This is not just a fashion item, but a statement: fashion doesn't have to choose between the modern and the traditional — it can be both.
