WANG TZU-CHIA

Ling Tung University

I am Wang Zijia orViolet,a fashion design student at Ling Tung University, specializing in garment design and creative expression. My design philosophy revolves around emotions, social issues, and cultural codes, transforming abstract concepts into tangible forms through fashion and accessories. From Matriarchal Magnificence to Post-Apocalyptic Magnificence, my work explores the rebirth of civilization after its collapse, employing dramatic silhouettes, bold embellishments, and exquisite craftsmanship to create a striking visual impact. Additionally, I challenge minimalist and function-driven fashion ideologies with my collection I’m Done with Your Minimalism, emphasizing maximalism and emotional expression. My Shucking for Pearls project metaphorically examines Asian parenting, illustrating the struggles and transformations experienced during growth. Beyond fashion, I am currently developing my brand fashionwhore, starting with the Magnificence Series, which extends into fashion jewelry, accessories, and artistic design pieces. Through this brand, I aim to continue my design narrative while incorporating sustainable fashion principles. In my Democratizing Fashion competition proposal, I devised strategies to reduce recycling costs and enhance circular fashion possibilities. I am passionate about experimenting with different materials, from fabric hardening techniques to incorporating Koji pottery and glasswork, constantly seeking new breakthroughs in my designs. I look forward to connecting with like-minded creators to push the boundaries of fashion together!

Regal Seasoning

Regal Seasoning: A Chess-Themed Leather Spice Jar Set Regal Seasoning is a high-end spice jar set that seamlessly integrates chess elements, leather craftsmanship, and practicality. Inspired by classic chess pieces, this design combines vegetable-tanned leather with glass to create a kitchen accessory that is both functional and aesthetically refined. Each spice jar corresponds to a different chess piece, featuring intricate leather carvings and gold foil detailing to represent elements such as the knight, pawn, rook’s tower, and the king’s crown. The leather encases a transparent glass container, incorporating window details that ensure both elegance and easy spice identification. The jar lids are crafted from leather and metal, with a magnetic or twist-lock mechanism to enhance user experience. The storage base is designed as a chessboard, cut from thick vegetable-tanned leather with embedded slots to securely hold the spice jars. The chessboard can be configured as a roll-up storage mat or a wooden-framed board, offering both a sophisticated chess aesthetic and convenient display or storage options. Regal Seasoning is more than just a spice jar set—it is a work of art. Designed for cooking enthusiasts and chess lovers alike, it transforms everyday seasoning into a strategic and ceremonial experience.
