I am currently studying Fashion and Apparel Design at Donghua University. I have carried out extensive explorations in fabric transformation and dyeing techniques, and I am deeply passionate about applying cutting-edge technology to fashion design. My past works have included experiments with dynamic installations integrated into garments.
Sustainable fashion is another core focus of mine. I actively explore innovative ways to repurpose leftover materials from garment and leather production. I have developed a range of garments and accessories using these materials, and my work has been showcased in several exhibitions across Shanghai’s commercial districts. I have also collaborated with organizations such as Hushang Recycling to turn sustainable concepts into viable products.
One of my sustainable fashion projects, which centers on circular redesign methods, was selected as a key student-supported initiative by my university.
This collection is inspired by the autumn cicada, an ephemeral yet radiant symbol of life’s final bloom. Autumn marks the last stage of the cicada’s life. As the slanting sun filters through its fragile wings, it casts a delicate amber glow, dappled and intricate. After years of silent growth beneath the earth, the cicada finally emerges—its time above ground may be brief, yet it sings boldly until the very end.
Drawing inspiration from the cicada’s wing structure, the design reimagines its form through leather collage and cut-out techniques. Leather, often perceived as a heavy and monochromatic material, is here reinterpreted with hand-dyeing methods to create richly textured and variegated patterns. This approach challenges traditional leather aesthetics, infusing the surface with the layered colors and textures of the autumn landscape.
In terms of material selection, the collection makes use of recycled leather offcuts, assembling them into multi-panel patchwork coats. This not only echoes the segmented nature of cicada wings but also reflects a commitment to sustainable design, breathing new life into discarded materials and expanding the expressive potential of leather.
