George Otieno is a certified Fashion Designer with a Bachelors degree in Fashion Design & Marketing from Kenyatta University in Nairobi,Kenya. I am passionate about design and use of sustainable materials in design. I love to tell African stories through my creations, deeply inspired by different African cultures. At the moment I am deeply interested in reducing landfills in my country by up cycling of waste tires from different automotive vehicles to create soles for my footwear. Sustainability is a key inspiration in my day to day work and activities while creating products. This initiative helps to make the world a better place for ourselves and future generations.

Our main project revolves around up cycling of waste tires from different automotive vehicles to create our bottom soles . This helps us build a sustainable product that is both of good quality and durable. We use good quality genuine leather on our Sandal straps and on insole footbed because of its longevity and sustainability. We produce almost 2.5 billion tires annually, which contribute to high number of environmental pollution and creation of landfills that take years to biodegrade. By up cycling the tires it helps give these waste tires a new meaning hence reduces land fills. We find using fashion to be one of the best ways to help save the environment by reducing tire landfills from our planet.

Working with our partners at Arts Thread to develop lifelong learning and career opportunities for students of fashion and design.
