Category: Accessories

Competitions: Taiwan Region

Project Name: RE-PANTSFORM — Transforming Denim Design Description: RE-PANTSFORM is an innovative design piece that merges sustainability with minimalist functionality, redefining the boundaries between fashion and accessories. This project is primarily made from recycled denim and natural vegetable-tanned leather, utilizing a modular design that allows the user to freely transform the piece into full-length pants, cropped pants, or a travel bag, catering to various everyday, short-term travel, and storage needs. In terms of structural design, the pant legs are connected with hidden zippers and leather seams, allowing for easy detachment and reassembly into a bag. The crotch area is also designed with a functional pocket for additional storage, showcasing the seamless integration of structure and function. This design not only extends the lifespan and versatility of the piece but also emphasizes minimalism and maximization of the object's value, fully embodying the "less is more" philosophy of slow fashion. The core of RE-PANTSFORM's creation lies in the concept of "circular regeneration." The project recycles old denim, giving fabric that would otherwise be discarded a second life in the design process. The use of natural vegetable-tanned leather — a material free of heavy metals and naturally aging over time — allows users to witness the material's transformation and growth. This design approach not only respects resources and craftsmanship but also fosters an emotional connection between the product and the user. Aesthetically, RE-PANTSFORM adopts a minimalist design language, eliminating unnecessary embellishments and details. Clean lines and the inherent texture of the materials serve as the visual focal points. The transition between bag and clothing is not only fluid but also highly recognizable, meeting the modern generation's pursuit of designs that combine practicality, aesthetics, and environmental consciousness. This piece is not just a design experiment, but a proactive response to the future of fashion. It encourages people to rethink, "Do we really need so many clothes, or do we just need one thoughtfully designed item?" Through RE-PANTSFORM, we hope to bring design back to its essence, transforming clothing from just a product worn on the body to a representation of lifestyle values and environmental commitment.
