My name is Finn, Im a 21 year old fashion student living in Bristol, UK. I focus on sustainability within textile / garment design, sourcing and construction using traditional hand craft techniques in a modern context. My research draws from the use and connotations of leather within subversive queer communities such as s&m , club kids e.t.c. I aim to challenge the way we view and consume fashion, emphasising the importance slowing down our fashion systems to focus on creating unique, innovative and responsible designs, whilst also celebrating queerness and an unconventional aesthetic.

Using completely second hand waste leather, I created this look drawing inspiration from material cultures of leather - communities fostered by the deviant connotations of leather: Clib kids, bikers and queer subcultures such as the BDSM scene - transported into a high fashion setting, playing around with the idea of restriction, empowerment and alienation. I aimed to draw focus to the importance of slow craft, taking time to develop textile processes and garment construction with a responsible / sustainable design process throughout.
