I am a young designer from Pakistani heritage which has also proved to become my design identity. Through my designs, I highlight the historic artefacts of Pakistan and place them into the contemporary through the use of integrating modern technology such as high-tech laser-cutting, embossing, and laser engraving. Alongside highlighting my cultural background through my designs I also question the concept of cultural appropriation. I, as a designer, truly believe that all cultures should be open to be admired, enjoyed, and celebrated by all individuals, regardless of their cultural associations. After all, through the documented history of wars, colonisation, and independences, who could claim to have 100% of the authenticity and ownership of their cultures..?

This look draws inspiration from the Pakistani dupatta, a garment that women wrap around themselves for modesty, particularly to cover their chest. Dupattas are typically made from soft, drapeable fabrics like cotton that are easy to manipulate. However, this design transcends the traditional shawl concept by cleverly engineering dupatta-like draping into a jacket's construction using unconventional materials—suede and leather—while drawing subtle inspiration from biker subculture. Through asymmetrical design, the look explores the tension between masculinity and femininity, concealment and revelation, enhanced by lace trousers. The piece reimagines the traditional, everyday dupatta in a modern context while preserving its characteristic soft drapes and folds.
