U' CSTEUM - SS24

The garment I designed for this contest, is part of my SS24 collection titled “U’ Csteum,” an Apulian dialect term that encompasses a double meaning: the men’s SUIT and the BATHING SUIT. I come, in fact, from a small town in the province of Bari and at the beginning of this course of study I was catapulted into a reality completely different from my own, Milan, giving me the opportunity to have new experiences and always learn about new things. This feeling, was the inspiration for my collection, born from the combination of the Apulian aesthetic inspired by the shots of photographer Piero Percoco, who became famous thanks to his telling the story of Puglia through photos of everyday moments: faces and situations taken with a smartphone on the beach, among the rocks, under the sun and among the city streets. And an analysis of 1970s/80s New York, among taxi drivers photographed walking around in oversized short-sleeved shirts and men always in a hurry to get to the office. Deconstructed jackets like the one I’m presenting here, low-waisted strapless leather shorts, and a careful study of knitwear with different textures are just some of the main elements of the collection.
