Womenswear, Apparel, Sustainable Design

Fashion design student focused on ready to wear pieces. Interested in up cycling and sustainable fashion that stays relevant in spite of rising and falling trends. Keenly interested in combining different areas of fashion to create fusion garments that tread the line of genre and subculture.

RLSD: The Statement Hybrid

Category: Apparel

Competitions: UK, International

My project starts with a basic everyday piece - the blazer. My focus was to use the blazer as a base on which I could build a completely new garment upon which still drew references from iconic blazer finishing e.g. lapels, buttons, panels. By drawing on different fashion influences from a variety of genres, I was able to create a hybrid piece that could be both dressed up or down and would survive in a breakneck fashion climate in which trends come and go in the blink of an eye. This speaks to the sustainable aspect of the project which focuses on using leather - trends are discarded, so too is much of the leather we produce. My attempt to create something timeless, that combines tailored elements with streetwear is a response to the ever changing fashion climate.
