Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK)

I am a third-year student at Häme University of Applied Sciences, Smart and Sustainable Design ,My major is fashion design. I was raised in the rich soil of Eastern culture, but I am equally captivated by the disciplined logic of Nordic minimalism. For me, design is not merely an accumulation of styles; it is a profound cross-cultural dialogue. I seek to weave together the all-encompassing silhouettes of traditional Eastern garments and the poetic "white space" (計白當黑) of Chinese art, fusing them with the absolute functionality of Nordic design. This delicate balance forms the canvas of my design language. My creative journey is a journey with a clear destination, but an adventurous itinerary. I begin with systematic, rational research, pinpointing the precise core of the problem. Yet, during the sketching phase, I let my hand follow my intuition, embracing the inherent uncertainties of the process to uncover the meaning hidden within serendipity. Scattered inspirations—a travel sketch, a candid photograph, or a line of evocative prose—are the raw gems I collect. Design methodology is the invisible silk thread that organizes these scattered fragments into a cohesive narrative, allowing raw emotion to shine within a rational framework. In my recent modular leather collection, I conducted an experiment on structural boundaries. I pioneered the "Pull-through-back" leather buttons, a design that returns leather fastening to its most primal, self-locking logic. I no longer dictate the static final form of the garment; instead, through a logical modular numbering system, I invite the wearer to reconstruct the piece, transferring the power of self-definition to the user. With a background in brand design, I prioritize the ability to translate vision into reality. I constantly ask myself: Is this unique? Does it justify its production? In an age of consumption, I strive for designs that offer security, joy, and a reason to endure over time. To me, a garment is never just an object. For the designer, it is a vessel for release and an emotional outlet; for the wearer, it is a medium for self-definition. The most compelling force driving me forward is that singular moment when my expression meets your identity within a single piece of work. This convergence of dual expressions—this profound resonance, this moment of understanding and being understood—is the true soul of design.
