This design project takes its primary inspiration from the elegant and expansive form of the *Mobula birostris*, translating its distinctive silhouette into a refined crossbody bag. The natural curvature of the manta ray is reinterpreted into a fluid, aerodynamic structure that not only captures a sense of movement, but also enhances ergonomic wearability. The bag’s overall form emphasizes softness and continuity, avoiding rigid geometry in favor of an organic flow that mirrors the grace of marine life in motion. A defining feature of the design is the application of a rope net overlay across the surface. This element is not merely decorative, but deeply conceptual. It directly references fishing nets, serving as a visual metaphor for the widespread issue of overfishing and the unintended entrapment of marine species. The tactile contrast between the supple base material and the coarse, constricting net creates a deliberate tension—both visually and physically—symbolizing the fragile relationship between nature and human intervention. Functionality remains a core consideration throughout the design process. The crossbody format ensures practicality for daily use, while strategically placed compartments maintain usability without disrupting the clean, sculptural form. Material selection further supports the concept, with an emphasis on durability and potential sustainability, aligning with the environmental message embedded in the design. Ultimately, this piece operates at the intersection of fashion and advocacy. By integrating symbolism into a wearable object, the design seeks to provoke reflection on ocean conservation issues while maintaining a strong aesthetic identity. It invites users to engage not only with its form and function, but also with the narrative it carries—transforming an everyday accessory into a statement of awareness and responsibility.
