YUCHEN JIN

Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts

I am a student majoring in Fashion Design. I believe that clothing is wearable sculpture and a silent language. During my studies, I have fully mastered the entire design workflow, including fabric manipulation, draping, flat pattern making, sewing techniques, as well as digital design tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator. I focus on reworking fabric textures and creating dramatic silhouettes. I draw inspiration from everyday novelties and strive to break the boundaries of traditional apparel. I relish the concentration at the sewing machine and cherish every moment of creative inspiration. I pursue perfection in details while staying keenly aware of market trends. I hope to deliver heartfelt designs that blend aesthetics and practicality, striking a chord with every wearer.

Low-Pixel Days

This clothing design centers on the theme of Electronic Nostalgia & Digital Childhood. It draws on the visual characteristics of low resolution and frame distortion seen in early digital devices, and incorporates pixel aesthetics to create a retro digital style. The mottled frame traces and grainy texture of vintage game consoles and original electronic screens are translated into visual elements of the garment. Staggered pixel patterns and irregular splicing mimic the nostalgic visuals of screen stuttering and pixel drift. Boasting a sleek and lively silhouette, the piece captures warm childhood memories linked to early digital gadgets. By reinterpreting retro digital symbols with modern design, it revives the faded digital childhood through fashion, and expresses the unique electronic nostalgia shared by a whole generation.
