National Pingtung University of Science and Technology

I am a learner passionate about creation and design, skilled at drawing inspiration from everyday observations and transforming emotions, culture, and social issues into visually compelling works. My creative style is concept-driven, often incorporating material experimentation and craftsmanship techniques—such as three-dimensional forms and installations—to explore the relationships between humans, the environment, and society. Throughout my learning process, I continuously experiment with diverse media and forms of expression, cultivating independent thinking and problem-solving abilities while emphasizing the narrative and meaning behind each piece. I aspire to use my work to provoke reflection and foster deeper emotional connections with viewers. In the future, I aim to further refine my design skills and broaden my international perspective, creating works that not only possess aesthetic value but also convey meaningful messages and impact.

Divine Waste

Category: Accessories

Competitions: Taiwan Region

This design centers on the concept of “human behavior under divine observation,” inspired by the relationship in Greek mythology where gods coexist with humans but exist from a higher perspective. Rather than directly intervening, the gods act as observers, silently witnessing human decisions and everyday actions. This project translates the idea of “being watched” into a visual language, reflecting on contemporary issues of overconsumption and resource waste. The design uses the “eye” as its primary symbol, representing omnipresent surveillance and recording. It conveys the paradox that human behavior is constantly seen yet remains largely unchanged. The bag form is developed from a floral motif, transformed into an organic structure with irregular contours and layered folds that mimic the withering and erosion of petals, symbolizing the gradual imbalance of nature under prolonged consumption. The central eye functions as the flower’s pistil, strengthening the core idea of being observed. Symbolic details are incorporated through references to the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. A snake-shaped hook represents temptation and the cyclical nature of consumption, while an apple-shaped element is reinterpreted as a reusable eco-bag, suggesting the possibility of restraint and reduced waste within desire-driven consumption. A star-shaped coin pouch integrated with eye motifs extends the concept that even everyday financial transactions are under observation, reinforcing narrative coherence. Structurally, the interior of the bag is inspired by ancient Greek architecture, referencing its proportional systems and structural order. This is translated into a layered support and frame-like configuration, allowing the soft organic exterior to maintain stability and load-bearing functionality. This hidden structural logic reflects the rational order associated with the divine gaze. In terms of function, the bag includes a drainage system for storing umbrellas. Wet umbrellas can be placed inside, with water directed to the base and released through an opening bottom structure, effectively addressing water accumulation during rainy conditions. This transforms everyday inconvenience into a manageable functional system, responding to practical needs while echoing environmental concerns. Material selection includes vegetable-tanned leather and low-gloss metal hardware, emphasizing aging traces and durability, symbolizing the long-term impact of human behavior on the environment. Overall, the design integrates symbolism, form, structure, and functionality to express the state of continuous consumption under constant observation, while encouraging reflection on environmental responsibility and behavioral choices.
