Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art

my name is shahar I am a second-year Fashion Design student at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art in Israel. My practice is driven by research and personal storytelling, exploring the intersection of psychology, ritual, and materiality. Through experimental pattern cutting, leather craftsmanship, and conceptual design, I translate invisible emotional experiences into physical forms. I aim to create garments that challenge perception, provoke dialogue, and demonstrate fashion's ability to communicate complex human experiences.

The Animal Within

My project explores trichotillomania, a compulsive hair-pulling disorder that has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. While the act offers a brief sense of relief, it is often followed by shame, frustration, and self-blame. Through this collection, I examine the ritual of pulling—the urge to search for the "perfect" hair, the precise way it must be held, the moment of release, and the emotions that follow. Inspired by hybrid creatures, the garments embody the conflict between instinct and reason, revealing how an obsessive need for control can ultimately lead to a loss of control.
