CHIA HUI HUNG

Taiwan Region

I am Jia-Hui Hong, currently studying at Shih Chien University, Kaohsiung Campus. My hobbies include crocheting yarn and knitting scarves. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and reading magazines. My major is fashion design, and I hope to pursue a career in this field after graduation and become a fashion designer. I also hope to have the opportunity to join a working holiday abroad in the future to improve my language skills and broaden my horizons. My perspective on fashion is that people should wear what suits them, and not be afraid to try different styles because of their body shape. It is important to confidently express one’s true self through clothing.

My theme is ecological conservation. The inspiration comes from the beaver in the film Zootopia, where the beaver plays an important role in the ecosystem. It is the first species to begin developing unfamiliar environments. Because of its presence, other animals are able to gradually approach and inhabit these new areas. Without beavers, the ecosystem would basically have no animals surviving there. I designed my piece based on the beaver’s appearance, and I also sewed on hand-carved wooden buttons to represent the way beavers chew wood.
