SHIN LING LIN

Lunghwa University of Science and Technology

Since I was a child, I have been passionate about drawing and filled with a strong sense of curiosity. My family has always supported my decision to attend art-related schools, believing that studying something aligned with my interests would allow me to fully dedicate myself to learning. At first, drawing was simply a hobby, but over time, it gradually turned into a dream. I wanted more people to see my work, so I decided to study Advertising Design at Fuxing Commercial and Industrial Vocational High School. During my three years at Fuxing, I acquired a wide range of design-related knowledge, including illustration, graphic design, watercolor, and sketching. The school regularly held various competitions, such as student-teacher art exhibitions, watercolor sketching events, and themed project contests. These experiences not only improved my technical skills but also helped me better understand my artistic interests and strengths, allowing me to accumulate valuable experience. After graduating from Fuxing, I enrolled in the Department of Cultural and Creative Industries at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology. Over the past three years at Lunghwa, I have gained extensive knowledge in product design, including modeling, 3D printing, leather crafting, and metalwork. These skills have helped me move beyond two-dimensional works and explore more diverse and three-dimensional forms of creation. They have broadened my artistic perspective and taught me new ways of presenting my work. I know I still need to keep expanding my horizons and exploring different approaches to creation. I want to integrate my personal ideas into my works and develop a unique style. That is what I’m striving to learn now. I’m determined to keep working hard and moving forward on the path of art and illustration. This is my personal story.

Within every heart lies a forgotten fragment of childhood. A time when we believed in talking rabbits, endless forests, and clocks that could tick backwards— until the world’s expectations quietly tucked our fairy tales away, along with the wonder-filled child we once were. This piece draws inspiration from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, crafting a realm of imagination that belongs solely to the wearer. The hat and boots are not mere accessories—they are portals into a personal universe. Once worn, the boundaries of reality begin to blur, and you are transported into a whimsical space defined entirely by your own imagination. The black-and-white checkerboard motif extending from the back of the hat references a chessboard, symbolizing life’s ongoing choices and strategies. Like a crimson carpet, it unrolls toward the unknown, inviting the wearer to step forward with curiosity and courage—to rediscover the fearless self within. The midsection of the hat incorporates the silhouette of a boot, capturing the iconic moment when Alice tumbles down the rabbit hole. It’s not only a shift in scenery, but a shift in mindset—an invitation to once again embrace the unbound desires of childhood fantasy. Intricate details enhance this narrative: The pocket watch represents the White Rabbit’s obsession with time. The teapot and teacup reference the Mad Hatter’s endless tea party, where time loops and logic dissolves. These are not just decorative elements—they immerse the design in a world where absurdity reigns with its own logic, guiding the wearer to release reason and enter a personalized wonderland. The boots incorporate elements of tea ware, signifying a step into the eternal tea party. The heel, shaped like a key, symbolizes how every step forward unlocks the doors to our inner realms of magic. This is a journey for anyone who has “grown up,” yet refuses to forget. Regardless of age or identity, everyone deserves a corner of the world where fairy tales, dreams, and endless possibility still bloom.
