Arian Amiri

International

Arian Amiri is an Iranian fashion designer and literature student whose work explores the relationship between literature, mythology, and visual storytelling. His academic background in literature has played a significant role in shaping his creative vision, helping him develop designs rooted in narrative depth, symbolism, and artistic expression. Drawing inspiration from Gothic aesthetics, fantasy worlds, and symbolic narratives, his designs seek to transform abstract ideas and emotions into wearable forms. Through a combination of structured silhouettes, dramatic detailing, and conceptual craftsmanship, his work examines themes of duality, identity, beauty, and decay. Rather than viewing fashion solely as clothing, he approaches it as a medium for storytelling and artistic expression. With a strong interest in couture design and creative experimentation, Arian aims to create garments that exist at the intersection of fashion, art, and literature.

Hollowness of Perfection

As a fashion designer, I have always sought inspiration from literature, mythology, fantasy narratives, and various artistic movements. I believe that an artist should never confine themselves to a single style or aesthetic; creativity grows through exploration and dialogue between different forms of art. This project is inspired by The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, one of the masterpieces of Gothic literature. The novel follows the journey of Dorian Gray, its protagonist, and explores his transformation, moral decline, and eventual downfall. Through this narrative, Wilde examines the tension between outward beauty and inner truth, revealing the consequences of valuing appearances above substance. In everyday life, people often wear metaphorical masks to conceal aspects of themselves from the outside world. This idea extends far beyond individual behavior and can be observed throughout modern society. It is particularly relevant in the fashion industry, where constant trends, consumerism, and the pursuit of perfection encourage people to seek validation through appearance. Individuals are often persuaded to purchase products they do not truly need or to follow ever-changing trends in order to feel accepted and valued. This garment aims to visualize these hidden realities and the concepts in which contemporary society has become immersed. The contrast between surfaces, textures, and forms reflects the illusion of perfection and the emptiness that can exist beneath luxury, beauty, and external appearances. While such ideals may seem desirable, their influence on our lives is often temporary and superficial. Ultimately, the project suggests that genuine beauty and understanding can only be achieved by looking beyond the surface. To discover the true meaning of anything, one must examine its inner nature, question its appearance, and reflect deeply upon its essence. Through fashion as a storytelling medium, this design seeks to encourage that reflection.
