Huize You is a fashion designer and artist, born and raised in the Minnan region of China, now residing and working in Belgium. In 2021, she graduated with a Master's degree in Fashion from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, mentored by the Walter van Beirendonck and Dirk van Saene. Post-graduation, she joined the menswear design team at a renowned Parisian luxury group. However, her profound questioning of capitalist industry and the commercialization of fashion prompted her return to Belgium, where she embraced the freedom of independent creation. Her main works including garments , soft sculpture, illustration, and video. Each of her collections is an autonomous corner of the universe, a fragment crystallized in the boundless expanse of time and space. Through the deconstruction and reconfiguration of these fragments, she challenges and interprets human behavior and social relations. Her work often juxtaposes playful details with an undercurrent of pessimistic reflection and satire, suggesting that fashion is not merely a vessel for celebration. Like all art forms, fashion should provoke encounters and contemplation. Through her distinctive approach, she seeks to explore the essence of the universe.

I ONLY WANT YOU TO LOVE ME This collection was conceived in April 2020, during the lockdown when I found myself "stuck" at home with my family, contemplating my most pivotal work. In this confined space, I began to explore the complex web of family dynamics, the way they shape our lives and our inner selves. Family is not a choice; it can be distant and unyielding, or stiflingly controlling, or perhaps even too indifferent to offer the guidance we seek. My traditional Asian parents, who seldom express love and often exert control, had a profound impact on me. The feelings we have for our parents are tangled and layered. We strive to meet their expectations, but no matter how hard we try, we can never completely fit into their rigid framework. Like a character from a Fassbinder film, we find ourselves trapped in a role we didn't choose, constantly seeking approval we may never receive. My wish for everyone, myself included, is to meet our own expectations, to define our own journey, rather than bending to the will of others. As I crafted this collection, I took the time to stitch every line by hand. It was an act of reverence for the work itself and a nod to the craftsmanship and dedication of the generations who came before me. Each stitch represents a commitment to my own path and the legacy of creativity that inspires me. I envision expanding this collection by integrating vintage leather pieces with luxurious wool and mohair fur. This fusion will embrace the beauty of misplacement and deconstruction, creating a dynamic interplay of textures. Each piece will evoke a sense of artful chaos, where classic elements are reimagined in bold, unexpected ways.
