亭臻 陳

Tainan University of Technology

Hello! My name is Chen Ting-Zhen, and I am a second-year student in the Department of Fashion Design at Tainan University of Technology in Taiwan. I have been passionate about design since I was young and enjoy expressing my ideas and emotions through creative work. Throughout my studies, I continuously explore different styles and materials to develop my aesthetic sense and design skills. I am a highly imaginative person, often filled with creative and unconventional ideas, and I enjoy transforming these inspirations into tangible pieces. To me, design is not only about visual presentation, but also an extension of inner thoughts and a form of self-expression. I also find great fulfillment in challenging myself and pushing my creative boundaries. I am truly excited to participate in this competition and look forward to showcasing my design concepts and creativity, while also learning and exchanging ideas with other talented designers to further grow on my design journey.

Competitions: Taiwan Region

This piece is centered on the concept of “frozen liquid motion,” transforming the dynamic moment of a splash into a wearable leather ring. The design is inspired by the instant when liquid is suspended in mid-air, expressed through organic, outward-extending spikes that create a strong sense of movement and tension. The material used is vegetable-tanned leather, shaped through wet molding and hand-dyed to achieve a deep brown tone with natural textures, while maintaining both flexibility and structural stability. The surface is carefully polished to produce a subtle sheen, enhancing its visual depth. In terms of design, this work breaks away from traditional symmetry and rigid forms, emphasizing natural randomness and individuality. Each piece carries a unique, unrepeatable character, reflecting the essence of handcrafted artistry. More than just an accessory, it stands as a form of expression between craft and art, exploring the relationship between material, form, and the flow of time, while presenting a harmonious balance between nature and human creation.
