Jing Xin Toh

Shih Chien University

Hello, I am Jess (Toh Jing Xin), a junior student majoring in Fashion Design and Management at Shih Chien University, Kaohsiung Campus. In my journey through fashion design, I have developed a profound fascination with the spatial tension created by linear structures. For me, Deconstruction is not just an academic pursuit to satisfy my curiosity about garment architecture, but a way of thinking that breaks conventional boundaries to re-envision the relationship between clothing and the human form. My design philosophy is rooted in Sustainability. I believe that exceptional design should offer multiple interpretations. By implementing modular deconstruction, a single garment can achieve "multi-wearability," providing a continuous sense of novelty for the wearer while actively practicing slow fashion and environmental responsibility. In this era of pervasive Artificial Intelligence, I embrace AI-assisted design as a powerful tool. However, I remain firm in my belief that humanity must remain at the helm of creation. Technology is the instrument, but human intuition and emotion are the irreplaceable soul of every masterpiece.

Architectural Restructuring: Fluid Leather Deconstruction

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Taiwan Region

This collection, titled "Architectural Restructuring: Fluid Leather Deconstruction," draws its primary inspiration from the "Breath of Lines". By viewing lines as trajectories of flowing vitality rather than static boundaries, the design reinterprets the relationship between the human form and its second skin. The core of the project lies in the modular logic of "multi-wearability". By utilizing industrial metal zippers as both visual axes and functional connectors, the garments are transformed into detachable components that allow for continuous reorganization of the silhouette. This approach embodies the spirit of sustainable slow fashion, extending the garment's lifecycle through versatility. The visual narrative is defined by a stark juxtaposition of textures, featuring premium leathers such as Crafera, Liquid Metal Gator, and Wrinkle FG from Shan Been Jeou Industrial. Classical corset lace-up structures are integrated into these avant-garde, tech-inspired pieces to enhance structural precision and create a futuristic yet refined aesthetic.

Above The Clouds

Category: Accessories

Competitions: Taiwan Region

This design is inspired by the traditional Malaysian kite "Wau Bulan", which perfectly combines its graceful curves with the symbolism of the moon, which symbolizes freedom and hope. The outline of the bag echoes the smooth structure of the kite, implying movement and balance. The center of the bag is embellished with Malaysia's national flower, the hibiscus flower, which symbolizes tenacity and vitality, surrounded by vines and leaves, symbolizing the rhythm of nature and our connection with the earth, and emphasizing the theme of "above the clouds" - freeing the mind and embracing nature. This work combines traditional cultural elements with modern aesthetics and functional design, conveying the concept of sustainable and harmonious coexistence between humans and the environment.
