WEI-MIN HSU

Shih Chien University

My name is HSU WEI-MIN. I am from Taichung, Taiwan and I am studying at the Department of Fashion Design and Management at Shih Chien University. I have gained a lot during the two years of studying in this department, and I found that I am more interested in and have ideas about accessories. I have been creating my own original character brand since high school, and established a beaded jewelry brand in college. I have been actively expanding the popularity of my products through learning and designing through creation. While selling and promoting, I also realized that management and sales are not easy things, and I gained experience and learned from it. I hope I can create new products more seriously in the future.

Mushroom Generation

Category: Footwear

Competitions: Taiwan Region

In this age of information explosion and emotional scarcity, people often choose to close their hearts and bury their emotions deep in invisible corners. "Mushroom Generation" is a metaphor for this psychological state. Just like mushrooms always grow in darkness and dampness, modern people have gradually become accustomed to not expressing, confiding, or touching their true emotions under the high pressure, indifference, and self-protection instinct of society. They live quietly, grow cautiously, and establish their own way of survival in the shadows invisible to the outside world. We are all mushrooms in some sense: It grows in a place where it cannot be seen, but it still strives to survive, quietly and stubbornly, blooming a tiny but real shape for itself. I chose to let mushrooms "grow" on the shoes, symbolizing that the power of nature is silent but firm, and can always find an outlet for life in the cracks. Mushrooms represent the courage to explore the unknown. Putting on these shoes is like planting a seed in your heart that is willing to open up to the world. I hope this pair of shoes can encourage people to let go of their excessive defenses, step out, walk into the forest, touch the sun and the land, and reconnect with nature and themselves. Slow down, open your senses, feel the warmth of the land and the breath of life again, and open the closed mushroom world in your heart.
