ESTHER MUWANGA

Self Employed

MYRIAM COUTURE LIMITED

I am a graduate architect, self made fashion designer and pursuing industrial product design; drawn to the creative arts and craft ranging from space design, industrial product and fashion design. Through these I enjoy innovation and problem solving. I have grown to express and develop design ideas /concepts through experimental modeling or simply working the materials i have at hand. I naturally gravitate towards geometric designs and often allow my creative processes to tap and or blend non conventional design concepts across varying creative fields say; architecture, music or fine arts to offer design clues, guide project methodology, concept development of the tasks that i handle. This, for me as a creative is liberating, setting and testing my own design parameters to create beautiful work and most importantly for me, the journey of creation which is usually far from mundane. i get to explore my own kind of unique possibilities without restriction of how things have always been done. I have gone on to open a craft business creating leather, back cloth, canvas and sisal accessories. I learn daily about the craft from those who have been at it for a while before me...but always leave room for Myriam brand to create its own voice within my means and presented constraints or opportunities.

The product showcases innate material properties through a deconstruct-able product design demonstrating unmatched sturdiness, resilience and beauty. the school bag is designed to allow user participation in product building as it comes in assemble-able parts that offers a choice for the student (learner) to determine their outlook at a given time whilst creating sentimental attachment for the owner.
