My name is Emiko Marui. I am 20 years old and currently a second-year student majoring in Product Design at Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand. As a Thai-Japanese individual, I’ve grown up with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, cultural aesthetics, and detail-oriented design. Since childhood, I have always been passionate about art and handmade creations. This passion has guided me toward the field of product design, where I continuously strive to improve both my technical skills and creative thinking. Although I recognize that I still have much to learn, I believe every opportunity such as this design competition is a valuable chance to grow. I am particularly fascinated by leatherwork for its balance of durability and elegance. I hope to use this opportunity to express my design perspective and share my interpretation of modern craftsmanship through my work. Thank you for considering my application.

This foldable bag is inspired by the traditional Thai musical instrument, the Ranad (xylophone). Its form and structural elements are reinterpreted through a minimalist and modern lens. Drawing from the ornamental details of Khon and applying the principles of origami, the design merges visual elegance with functional strength. The result is a wearable piece that seamlessly blends Thai and Japanese aesthetics into a practical, contemporary form.
