MYKAELLE Rosa

Universidade Federal do Piauí

I am a Fashion Design student in Brazil, developing my creative identity through the fusion of femininity, sophistication, and craftsmanship. I see fashion as a form of storytelling, where each piece carries concept, emotion, and intention. My work is guided by handmade processes, with a focus on embroidery, appliqué, and surface construction. I am particularly interested in exploring materials in experimental ways, especially leather, reinterpreting its structure through cutwork, weaving, and three-dimensional elements. My main source of inspiration comes from Brazilian nature, translated into organic shapes, flowers, and textures that come to life in my designs. I also seek to incorporate more conscious practices, exploring possibilities for reuse and valuing manual processes. Beyond the creative development, I am interested in the entrepreneurial side of fashion, considering product, identity, and positioning. I believe in fashion that goes beyond aesthetics—one that communicates identity, evokes sensations, and transforms dressing into a meaningful experience.

BRAZILIAN FLOWERS

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Brazil

I chose to develop this project based on Brazilian flowers, inspired by the richness and diversity of our nature. The proposal translates this plurality into forms, volumes, and textures applied to clothing, creating an organic and expressive aesthetic. The project is also grounded in surface design as a central element, where leather is no longer just a structural material but becomes part of the garment’s language itself. Through cutwork, weaving, layering, and three-dimensional floral appliqués, I create surfaces rich in relief, depth, and detail, enhancing both the visual and sensory aspects of the final piece. Throughout the process, the flowers are handcrafted from small pieces of leather, forming petals and unique compositions. This approach values handmade work and promotes a more conscious perspective on production, making use of smaller material offcuts and reducing waste. In this way, the project brings together concept, technique, and sustainability, transforming leather into elaborate surfaces that add identity, sophistication, and innovation to the piece.
