YAO TZU LIANG

The Royal College of Art

My name is Liang Yaozu. I am currently studying for a Master’s degree in Fashion at the Royal College of Art. I have always been deeply interested in clothing and design, and studying fashion allows me to explore my creativity and develop my technical skills at the same time. Among all the materials I work with, leather is the one I feel most passionate about. I have a natural enthusiasm for leather making because it combines craftsmanship, texture, and durability in a unique way. I enjoy the process of transforming raw materials into finished garments or accessories, and I pay close attention to details, structure, and quality. During my studies, I have been experimenting with different techniques, silhouettes, and concepts to express my personal style. I believe fashion is not only about appearance, but also about storytelling and emotion. Through my work, I hope to communicate ideas, culture, and individuality. I am constantly learning new methods and challenging myself to improve both creatively and professionally. My goal is to create meaningful and innovative pieces that can be recognized and appreciated by a wider audience. I hope that my designs and leather works will be seen, understood, and remembered. In the future, I wish to continue growing as a designer, collaborate with others in the industry, and bring my unique vision into the world of fashion.

A Transformable Bag Inspired by Secret Agents

Category: Accessories

Competitions: International

This project originated as a branch of my previous perfume project. Inspired by the underarm holster bags often associated with secret agents, I developed a transformable bag that can switch between an underarm hanging style and a handheld bag. The design focuses on adaptability and subtle functionality, allowing the user to change the way it is worn according to different situations. In terms of visual language, I was strongly drawn to the early luxury aesthetic of black and gold tones. This preference influenced many of the bag’s details, including hardware choices, edge finishing, and decorative accents. The overall style aims to balance elegance with discretion, creating a refined yet powerful presence. Through this piece, I wanted to evoke the sophisticated charm of early spy films, especially the timeless elegance associated with classic 007 imagery. The bag is not only a functional accessory but also a character-driven object that gives the wearer a sense of confidence, mystery, and cinematic grace.
