In a city consumed by smog, the sky is no longer blue, and the sunlight has become blurred and thin. People move through a concrete jungle made of steel and glass, with every breath feeling like a risk. This is the starting point of my inspiration—an intuitive response to the contemporary urban air pollution issue and a story about how humans and the environment struggle, adapt, and coexist. When the air is no longer pure, can clothing be more than just an expression of beauty? Can it become humanity's last line of defense? This thought led to the creation of this design. The large hood, form-fitting protective structures, and segmented functional elements resemble a battle-ready outfit born to survive in a polluted environment. The exaggerated structure not only strengthens visual tension but also symbolizes the urban dweller's unease about their survival environment and resistance to the unknown future. In terms of materials, I chose waterproof fabric and synthetic leather, simulating the physical damage and irritants brought about by air pollution. The color palette draws from the city’s gray scale, smoke, and metallic tones, with added military green blocks representing the remaining vitality and hope within the urban landscape. This piece is not just a futuristic fable; it is also a warning about our present reality. It tells more than just a story of pollution—it forces a deep reflection on environmental change: When the environment begins to issue warnings, are we ready to face the future? Or will clothing become the last layer of skin through which we communicate with the world, shielding us from the external threats we cannot control?
